It’s Wave Season
“Wave Season” is upon us. This term is used for the time between January and March when cruise lines typically offer their best pricing so they can get all of their sailings as booked as possible. This is similar to Black Friday or Cyber Monday sales.
Cruise lines do offer promotions throughout the year, but “Wave Season” in particular, encourages cruisers to book early for the best availability and price. This is especially important if you are planning to travel during a peak travel period. And it is important to note, that pricing goes up on cruises as the cabins fill up and pricing and availabilty are subject to change until a deposit is made. And I am noticing this year that availability for sailings for this summer and fall is limited.
Cruising is a wonderful way to travel. I have been on well over 30 ocean cruises and 3 river cruises. I have sailed on ocean cruises in the Caribbean, Mediterranean and Alaska and on river cruises throughout Europe. I recently returned from a Caribbean Cruise on Royal Caribbean and sailed in Alaska on Regent Seven Seas Cruises last June. You can cruise year round and to all 7 continents. Don’t forget about the expedition cruises to Antarctica and the Christmas Market Cruises to Europe. Cruising is the perfect vacation for multi-generational families, couples, groups of family and friends and solo travelers. Within the past year, my clients have cruised to the Mediterranean, Alaska, Europe, and Antarctica.
Some advantages of ocean cruising are:
Pack once and use the ship as a floating hotel
Meals and entertainment are included on the ship (many ships offer specialty restaurants for an additional fee)
Ships offer many amenities: pools, gyms, shopping, salon, spa, casinos, rock climbing walls, mini golf, ice skating, surfing
Ships come in many different sizes and offer many different itineraries
Ships are family friendly, many offering separate child and adult-only areas so everyone can have fun
Wonderful way to meet many new people
You can do as much or as little as you want on a ship
Some advantages of river cruising are:
Small, intimate ships so you get to know the other passengers and crew
Ability to dock right in the city or town
Excursions are generally included
Many itineraries and ships
Meals and entertainment are all included. Some alcohol is generally included as well
Frequently local entertainers are brought on board
Totally different vibe than an ocean cruise
You can do as much or as little as you want on the ship
And when you book your cruise with me, you get my expert knowledge about all things cruise. And I can often add special amenities and perks you cannot get on your own.
