A Mother’s Day Weekend to Remember in Colorado Springs

Each year, it’s our tradition to visit our daughter in Colorado for Mother’s Day. This time, we decided to turn the weekend into a little getaway and explore Colorado Springs—a beautiful destination just 90 minutes from Denver.

Our first stop was the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, where it happened to be Dog Days at the Zoo. We brought along our daughter’s adorable puppy, Daisy, who made quite the impression—especially on the giraffes. Let’s just say she was not a fan and made her opinion known! The zoo was a delight for all of us, and I was thrilled to see not one, but two elephants—my favorite.

Afterward, we headed to The Broadmoor, a truly iconic resort that’s earned Forbes Five-Star and AAA Five-Diamond recognition year after year. From its more than 20 dining venues to its award-winning spa, championship golf, shopping, pools, and even a bowling alley, there’s something for everyone. Even Daisy was treated like royalty, thanks to the pet-friendly touches like treats, a comfy dog bed, and a custom Broadmoor dog tag. It’s the kind of place that works for couples, families, spa lovers, and anyone celebrating something special.

Saturday was spent immersed in the beauty of Garden of the Gods, where the towering red rock formations and views of Pikes Peak take your breath away. Whether you’re walking, climbing, or just admiring the scenery, it’s a must-see.

But the true highlight? Sunday’s unforgettable Mother’s Day Brunch at The Broadmoor. Picture two hours filled with savory dishes, decadent desserts, and plenty of mimosas. It wasn’t just a meal—it was an experience, and hands down the best Mother’s Day brunch I’ve ever had.

We returned home that evening with full hearts, wonderful memories, and a renewed appreciation for quality time together. The weather was perfect, the setting was incredible, and the company couldn’t be beat. It was everything a Mother’s Day weekend should be.
